SharonM. you are not being paranoid. I think you are funny. Ironic, eh for the person who started the tangents to begin with is now telling everyone--enough! Miss Manners I reiterate what I said before,Maura doesn't owe anyone a thankyou. Sure Marsha was nice enough to mention the dates of the sale but Maura did not ask about the dates. Go back to the original question and it was about the restocking of the merchandise. I think a seasoned Harrods shopper would know how to get the dates of the sale. I think Maura is nice not nasty. She is getting crapped on and called snotty and she still comes back to give more info. I agree with shopper who defended all of us shoppers who go for quality goods and yes it probably is cheaper to fly over to London for the sale if you know you are going to get several pricy designer goods.

I personally love the Harrod's teddy bear! Poor Maura, all you wanted was the sale dates and sadly, I can't help with that.

Dearest k,

Upon reflection, I think you are correct. Henceforth, when anyone starts a thread seeking information, they should wait a good long while, and then check back in. If the required information has not been provided, the person who started the thread should publicly thrash those who responded, particularly if they had the nerve to discuss something that interested them instead of sticking squarely to the precise question posed. In addition, anyone who attempts to help by going out of their way to supply whatever paltry information they can find should be totally ignored.

Now I understand. Maura would have been much better off if everyone who did not know the answer just let the whole thread drop like a stone. I extend my most sincere apology.

Doesn't anyone read? Maura does not need the dates and if she did several people including Maura herself mentioned the dates. As for Jeff, if I was Maura the only thing I would bring you back would be a bag full of something you wouldn't want to smell. Since you know so much you should know you don't have to ask anyone to bring you back Harrods green bag, just log onl to their web site. As for all the other rude people don't tell anyone what they can buy or how much they can spend unless you are the one paying for it.

At least both Jeff and Maura can have some consolidation. At least both can sleep at night knowing that neither is as much of an asshole as Roger.

Maura....the answer to the original question is (drum roll please....) sometimes. Some things are restocked or rather replaced with other items. The higer end luxury goods are usually not produced in mass quantities so they are all out at the beginning of the sale. My experience has been that sometimes goods from a few seasons ago may be brought out for the sale and it is these items that are the re-stock goods. If you don't care what season the item is from, then it doesn't matter as many designs stay fairly the same from year to year. I think it is still worth it to go even into the second week of the sale. Happy shopping!

Hi everyone, this whole thread sums up precisely why I'm getting increasingly disillusioned with this forum.

Snipes back and forth, and insults thrown out for all to read. Another thing that disheartens me was mentioned earlier in this thread, and that's people jumping into a thread to rate the responses like some senior
arm-chair critic. If you don't have anything to add, or anything nice to say, please stay silent, as this Europe board is getting pretty sour lately.

Rose...

To raise the issue is great, but the question is...how do you make this a kindler and gentler site...

I will tell you the truth. I was actually taken off guard by Maura's reaction. I then reacted by being nasty to Maura, then read my post the next day and felt funny about it so I thought that I would "lighten up" by putting in the post about buying a green bag. Roger and Simons gut reaction was to attack. So I guess that it is admirable that you want a kindler and gentler Fodors but Fodors is not only informative but a reflection of human nature so it is not going to happen. Blame Maura for being a jerk (which she obviously was); blame me for dealing with it really badly and elevating me to a jerk too (which I did and was); Roger and Simon for being Roger and Simon; or Rose for wanting something but knowing that it is impossible. My advice, we should all suck it up and move on.
And...now I know why people use aliases. You won't see my real name or email in the future so attack at will.

If I had asked a question and It was turned into an interesting discussion, I would have been proud. I can't understand why Maura was so insulting. Her response really shocked me.

Jeff, I hope you'll change your mind about going nameless and faceless. Yes, it is no fun when people attack you. Part of the pleasure of the board is getting to "know" people, which is only possible if people use a consistent name.

For what it is worth, I thought the discussion in this thread was interesting, and I enjoyed your posts. Also, if you read the thread, Maura's post was the first really contentious one, so as my kids would say, she started it.

Jeff, just wondering....did something happen between the time you sent your last two posts? My hunch is that you got a mean-spirited email sent to your home email address and that's why you sent the last one....that you'd no longer appear with your full name and address. Just wondering.
I used to use my real particulars too and quit last spring, just on a hunch.

KK--> It wasn't too mean spirited but I then started to notice that so few people use their real names these days.

For god sakes, Cindy seemed nice enough, but didn't use her real name in attempting to change my mind.

From now on, I will go anon. and if anyone wants to know who I am, can meet me at the Harrods January Super Sale. Does anyone know when that is?

To Answer at [email protected] finally after more than 1 month and 50 some replys you have an answer. Thank you so much for your reply, I had a feeling that this was going to be the answer--Ufortunatly. As for people e mailing Jeff personally I think that is just plain mean. I think several people have been jerks to me on this site and I wouldn't think of contacting them personally. Again Answer thank you very much for your help.

Maura: Go to harrods. com and click on contact us. Ask the dates of the 2001 sale and they will send you the information. I did this last year even though I was not able to go. My opinion is there is nowhere like Harrods! Have fun.
