happytotravel - more apartment info, please

happytotravel, could you please give more information about the apartment where you stayed in Paris? We are planning a trip to Paris and are searching for an apartment. What street is it on - and how close is the metro? Was it on the 2nd floor? What about the area - cafes, restaurants, markets, etc. Any other details would be great. Thanks so much.

Hi, the apartment is on rue st. giles. Wonderful area, the closest metro was closed so we used Bastille, just 2 blks. We found the buses actually better, you can get one right in front of the Place de Vosages 2 minute walk, headed to the Louvre, or right at Bastille going to St. Germain. It was also convenient to walk, Centre de Pompideau, was very close and in between were incredible stores. Everything from designer to small boutiques. Easy walk to Notre Dame. I am saying easy based upon my kids, because my 8 year old is not a walker, so these distances are without complaints from him.
The best food we had, was just around the corner from the apt. upon recommendation from the owner, Incredible. A small grocery store was right around the corner, 2 patisserie(one recommended, one average), several cafes. The Monoprix is right at the Place de Vosages. You name it, and it was right here. You could easily just spend days in the neighborhood.
There is just one flight of stairs. A small courtyard. The double paned windows opened onto the courtyard, so it was quiet. I would highly recommend the apt. But if you want views of the Eiffel Tower, you won't get them here.

Making the reservation was so simple, I inquired, he called the same day, I paid the deposit via paypal and the rest upon arrival. It was so simple, I almost didn't beleive that I had a reservation.

Hope this helps in your decision.

Thanks so much for the information. I have sent an email to inquire about the dates. I appreciate so much your taking the time to give us so much info - it sounds like a wonderful place in a great location. I especially like the simplicity of the transaction as that can be a headache.

Happytotravel..thanks for the detailed well written trip report.

We will also be staying on rue St. Giles next month, not in the same apartment, but hopefully as comfortable as your's was. It looks great on vrbo. I've saved it for our next trip.

Question ... what is the name and location of the great restaurant around the corner?

Thanks,

Nina

I can't remember the name of the restaurant but it's on the right hand side if you are walking on the little street towards Place de Vosges, from rue St. Giles, its French food, excellent. There is also an excellent Italian restaurant just before the French one. The best boloungerie is just around the corner from the French restaurant. Have a great trip!
