Happy St Valentine
 

Happy !
I wish you all a good day and am interested in having a feedback on how you celebrate it.
In Belgium it is relatively recent and considered as too commercial.
It only involves you and your loved one.
Usually we celebrate with a kiss a special meal at home and some flowers.
Restaurants are offering special meals but I think too many people behave like me : stay home with your loved one and buy the flowers on 15th when they are discounted ;-)

At least that what I'll do since I am in Paris and my wife at home.

It's a very big hype here (US) with all the Valentine's day
cards/candy/stuff put out immediately after Christmas. And there are the TV and print ads reminding you to spend your money on someone. Or lots of someones.

My SO brought me flowers at work and we are going out for martinis and tuna sashimi after work. We will sit at the bar and plan our trip to Paris in April!

In my country they celebrate St Valentine with lots of flowers and street roaming. They also celebrate in the same manner at Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, Woman Day, Teacher Day, Mid-autumn Eve, and any occasion they can think of. Very festive country.

In Japan and Korea, the St Valentine Day is when girls offer chocolate to the boys they love. For the sake of gender equality, 14 March is called White Day and boys have to offer chocolate to girls on that day. Even more than that, 11.11 is a day for lonely people (because of the 1).

I've been spending St Valentine the same as I always have for years: alone, dreaming about the boy I love (not always the same one every year).

Here's a toast to couples! May they be blessed and forever in awe.

My sweetie and I are in Hawaii, so we have scheduled a special dinner for tonight. No need to buy into all of the hype.

We celebrated today by giving our friend/neighbor Anita a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream and three chocolate bars because she is lonely and low in spirits. We took her to market and shared a pizza with her. DH took a nap in the afternoon, and I took a nap in the early evening. That way, one of us could always keep the fire going. People think life in France is so romantic:) LOL.

Oh, and SAINT Valentine has gone by the wayside. Maybe not PC.
