Hampton Court Tickets

We are planning to visit Hampton Court during a August layover at Heathrow.

Is it necessary to purchase the tickets in advance or can they be purchased at the site without any problem during that time?

Thank you to anyone who responds!

My husband and I visited Hampton Court in April. We purchased tickets when we arrived. We arrived approximately half an hour before opening and there was not a line. We had our tickets quickly and were able to enjoy our time. Depending on how long your layover is you and what time you would be getting to Hampton Court you may want to purchase in advance. When we were leaving (approximately 1pm there was a line for tickets). Enjoy your visit! This was my favorite attraction to see.

How long is your layover? Hampton Court will take the better part of the day.

What day of the week are you going - weekends will obviously be busier than during the week...

You can get half price entry (normal entry is £15.95) by using train to get to Hampton Court.

"<i>You can get half price entry (normal entry is £15.95) by using train to get to Hampton Court.</i>

The problem - there is no convenient train from LHR to HCP. Tube plus train takes nearly 2 hours each way.

There is a local bus you can take - 1 hr 10 minutes each way. Allowing just 1 hour for immigration and queueing to store your carry-ons (optimistic) and just 2 hours back at LHR to retrieve the carry-ons and clear security, Unless your layover is 9 or 10 hours or more -- I wouldn't try it.
