Hampstead Village in London

So looking for your suggestions on the BEST places in Hampstead to get:

1) Coffee
2) Dessert
3) Best Pub Atmosphere (just for a pop in - grab a drink)

Also, how late do places like these stay open on a Sunday evening?

Thanks!

Others will know much better than me as I am not familiar with the area - but I did have a look in my books for you. Pubs: The Spaniard Inn gets a great deal of mention in books and on this site, also Freemasons Arms sounds like somewhere I would like to visit. For coffee and cake try the Coffee Cup or Café Mozart. I must stress I haven't been to any but this may tempt others to respond especially if these are poor suggestions. Good luck.

After we walked through the Heath and toured Kenwood House, we went out the other side and walked along the road to the Spaniard's Inn and had a late lunch. We enjoyed it very much. It is one of the oldest pubs in London and immortalized in Dickens' Pickwick Papers.

Lovely cafe just near Kenwood house on Hampstead Heath. Endorse Spaniards inn as an interesting place to eat or have a drink - great beer garden

My first trip to London was a drizzly, blustery, cold November. After walking along the heath we stopped for a drink at the Spaniard Inn. Roaring open wood fire. Beautiful historic pub. Just perfect.

Can't help you much beyond that but your post brought back a wonderful memory. Thank you. :)

Spaniard Inn is a hike from Hampstead Village , especially if you avoid the busy road and walk the paths of the heath instead. The Holly Bush is the historic pub right in the village. I've eaten at The Wells, which is a gastropub steps away from the heart of the village (but not much). Don't know what Sunday hours it keeps. You won't have much difficulty walking around the village and eyeballing what you might like by way of dessert and ambience. It is a very tiny village.

if you like art and historic architecture, Kenwood House is a wonderful destination. But like the Spaniards Inn, it is not particularly close to tube stops, so be prepared with an umbrella and good shoes if you go on a rainy day. Keats House is in the village, and atmospheric if you enjoy literary sights.

On a clear and windy day, kite flying on Parliament hill is a treat, with historic views.

For a cup of coffee I like Euphorbium Bakery, across from the bottom corner of the Heath and just up S. End Rd from the Hampstead Heath station. Part of a chain, with funky charm.
