Hamburg to Prague!

Hi everyone,
What's the best way to get from Hamburg to Prague?
Thanks,
Elina

Hello Elina, have you looked up cheap flights from Hamburg airport? I think Czech Airlines flies from there. Train would be a really long way, ditto bus.

Hi, I checked the flight for our date (June 24th), can you believe Czech Air is charging $500 per person for an hour.5 flight?!! I guess train it is.. Thanks for your help:)

www.bahn.de/en from €39 by train

And the train is pretty scenic along the Elbe river south of Dresden.

Why not use the 'stopover' box on bahn.de to book a few hours in Berlin and a few hours in Dresden along the way, still from €39?

Hi there:) Well, we're actually arriving in Berlin to visit family and going up to Hamburg for more family visits. After, it's travel time and we are heading to Prague, Vienna, and Salzburg before flying to London. I checked bahn and it seems like the best option. Thank you!

If you want flexibility you may want to check on the Germany-Austria railpass that lets you hop on practically any train anytime in both countries - if taking several trains it may be as cheap as the ballyhooed 39 euro tickets which to get you must book months in advance - to guarantee and then you cannot change nor refund them - for lots of great info on European trains I always spotlight these IMO fantastic sites - www.ricksteves.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.seat61.com - Man in Seat 61 who posts above his commercial site - check his commercial link to RailEurope to get prices of the Germany-Austria Railpass. The pass would not cover the Czech portion but trains there are cheap - for a pass that covers everything check out the Eurail Select Saverpass - valid in 3 countries - this is a first class pass but IME of decades of incessant rail travel in Europe has told me therre are immense benefits for the average tourist of the trip of a lifetime to go first class - you can hop on any train in those countries and almost always find IME lots of empty seats - I almost always put my bags on an adjoining empty seat - 2nd class can always be full or even SRO or it could be sparsely full - you never know.
Again check www.seat61.com's commercial link to RailEurope for those pass prices.

Thanks so much PalneQ, I checked out the sites, lots of great info. It was best for us to book trains through bahn, good price and times. Now all I need is a train from Pargue to Vienna and we're set. You're right Czech trains are cheap! Now on to my next research...hotels! Any recommendations in Prague and Vienna? Nothing over $200 a night, just cozy clean and great breakfast:)
