How is the location for the Quality Hotel Ambassador (GE179)
Heidenkampsweg 34? Has anyone stayed here?

we've been through this before.

The Ambassador is in a worse location than the Dorint Novotel Alster. Busy street - a main thoroughfare linking the city to the Autobahn.
Offices only in its immediate surroundings. Best part is the metro/S-Bahn stop Berliner Tor across the street.

I have taking all your helpfull advice. The only reason I asked about the Quality Hotel was because I just had points added to my account for that hotel chain. Is it that bad of a location?

Both of the hotels you are considering right now are in central locations that are comprised predominantly by offices and some of the most busy streets in town (and thus out of the way even while being located close to city center).
The Dorint's location is slightly better, but not significantly - both hotels are not that far from each other. And on the plus side for the Ambassador, there is access to both S-Bahn and U-Bahn (metro) trains, whereas the Dorint only has a U-Bahn stop in front of it. The Dorint might be the nicer hotel as it's rather new, whereas the Ambassador has been around for decades (1970s, I suppose), but it has been modernized in the meantime.
If I had to pay for the hotels I would not choose either - there are other budget opportunities to be found in nicer areas of town.
