Hamburg Daytrips

I've been mulling over various destinations out of Hamburg, including Lueneburg, Stade, and Luebeck. Now, I'm wondering about Wismar and Schwerin. I know Luebeck is considered the crown jewel in this region, but how would Wismar and Schwerin stack up in combination for a day, especially compared with Lueneburg?

I would probably not go to Wismar if Lübeck is on the list. Quite similar. Schwerin, however, is totally different and truly worth visiting. I haven't been to Lüneburg yet but from what I have heard I would rather go to Schwerin.

Thanks. Your information is always very valuable. I would consider Luebeck as a single destination in one day, but would combine Wismar and Schwerin in one day. Since I am only taking one day trip, I might do that. I like the idea that they have different character.

As usual, I agree with Ingo. I also have not been to Lueneburg, so I can't comment on that.

Schwerin is a special place; the schloss is one of my favorites. The inside is worth seeing, if only for the porcelain collection.

If you skip Luebeck, you will still enjoy Wismar.

I loved Schwrein - even though when i went it was just rehabbing from its dreary days in East Germany - nice castle on a nice lake - swell town.
