Hallstatt in late March 05

Hi,

I've been checking on the daily weather for Salzburg, and it's snowing now.

I will be in Austria for the Easter weekend.
I do really hope to see Hallstatt - I've
heard of it's beauty and would certainly like to enjoy Hallstatt at its fullness.

But looking at the weather now, what can I
expect from this town?

Any advice from fellow travellers?
Thanks.

rgds,
kelvin

Snow or not, see Hallstatt.

Hi Kelvinteh,

I was just in hallstatt last week. The weather was really nice. Probably about 50 degrees and sunny. Our lodging hostess said that it was the first nice day they had in a long time. All the roads are extremly wet and walking around will get your shoes wet for sure. This doesn't take away from the beauty of everything though.

Not alot is open at this time of year. All we could see was the Hallstatt Museum. The salt mines were closed along with most resturaunts. We found only 2 restaurants open in the whole city for dinner. There is a grocery store at the end of town, but they have really odd hours so don't depend on it to much.

I SO glad we went though. the views are amazing...i can't even put it into words. If you need a place to stay, we stayed at the Haus Cian...highly recomend it...great deal, nice hostess. If you need anymore info, just let me know!
