Elizabeth - I just checked out the website for the Pension Becker (http://www.pension-becker.rothenburg.../start(e).html) and it looks really nice. It's exactly the kind of reasonably priced place this cheap Yank prefers to stay at. You really have to look hard to find a crummy place in Germany however. My family and I would definitely opt for the dinner option with the hotel. On our recently completed trip through Northern Germany, we never spent less than $60 for the four of us even though we dined in out-of-the-way Gasthofs and Wirts. If I get a vote, I say stick with this ploace, especially since it's inside the city walls. Once the tourists leave after dinner, you'll have a blast walking down the darkened, empty streets. And if this place serves a typical German breakfast, you won't need to eat again until dinner time!

Thanks for the advise, Doug. Maybe we won't pay in advance for the halfboard special so we can experiment a little.<BR>
