Where can I get a fabulous haircut? I am staying in the 8th, but will be with friends in 10th, 4th and the 6th, so any of those will do.

Do you speak French? My experience has been that, not speaking French, you may end up with horrible results. I do speak French and always get my hair done in Paris, but because I can converse with the stylist. If you don't, go to a really high-end place, spend a LOT of money, and get a great cut.

I've had good luck at Marianne Gray, Rue Andre Des Artes in the 6th.

My French is not perfect, but good enough to discuss hair. I spent a month there on two different occasions - the last time I went to a shop in the Marais where nobody spoke English and it wasn't a problem...but I can't remember where it was.

Update: During six days of nonstop walking, I saw all sorts of cool salons, but most were fully booked and could not take walk-ins.

I ended up going to VOG (a chain) on St. Honore, not far from where Mr. Crosscheck was working. It was a Saturday and I had exactly 30 minutes before I was supposed to meet someone.
My stylist rose to the challenge, and gave me a shampoo, a great cut and blow dry in 25 minutes. She didn't speak English, but it was easy to communicate what I wanted, and we even had a discussion about the pros and cons of a straight vs. wavy for the blowout.

I ended up with an updated version of my normal cut and I was a little sorry that I wasn't more adventurous and didn't give the stylist more leeway.

All in all, a fun experience for less than I spend in LA, and I would highly recommend VOG to anyone who can't commit to an appointment.
