Haberstock hotel-Germany?

I've been told there is a Haberstock hotel in Munich or is it somewhere in Germany? Anyway, you notice my last name is Haverstock and my family and I will be visiting Munich the end of June and would like to take our picture outside the hotel of our namesake. Sounds silly doesn't it? But, we may never make it back to Germany. Has anyone heard of this hotel or know where it is located? Thanks in advance for your help. Great to have this formum for my questions and entertainment! Auf Wiederseihen.

Hi!

I haven't heard or the motel....but, my grandmother was named Haberstock and is from a small town (Peiting) right outside of Munich. We are planning to visit the area in early July for a "heritage tour". Maybe we are related!!
Lisa

Wow! Maybe we ARE related! My husband says that the first of the Haberstock line that he knows of is Tobias Haberstock. He came over to the states in 1740 (I think to Penn.) His son is Conrad Haberstock, then Conrad Jr., then Samuel Haberstock, then Francis Marion. We believe Francis Marion was born about 1850. Does your grandma know any of these names?
Where do you have set up to visit on your heritage tour? We will be in Munich from June 22-30. Maybe we should visit some of these places too!
What is your grandmother's name. My sister-in-law is into geneology and is working on the family tree. You might have some missing information! Can't wait to hear from you. Pls feel free to email me directly.
Jochen,
Thanks for the address for this hotel. We have located the street on our Munich map and will definetely be making a visit to the Hotel Haberstock. Can I ask how you know this info? Do you live near there or work there? Do you know if the family owning this hotel is named Haberstock?

Jochen May 19th, 2000 12:32 AM

Megan,

I know the address from my "Varta Führer" ( CD-ROM version ), a guide that features some hundred selected hotels all over Germany. It is invaluable for me, but I'm afraid there is no English version. Unfortunately, I've never been to hotel Haberstock myself, and I don't know any details about it.

Sorry I can't help you further.

Regards, Jochen

Jochen,
I appreciate your responding even if you don't have info on the hotel itself. I will be going to Munich soon and will see for myself then. :) Thanks again.
Megan Haverstock

Don't know about the relationships, but I have actually stayed at The Haberstock for 6 nights when we were in Munich back in about 1987. We chose it for its price & location - near the train station. & thought it was a good place to stay. I would reccomend it for a stay. The breakfast that came with the room was excellent & back then a matronly lady served the breakfast each morning. All the staff was very friendly & helpful. When you get there, if it is not a busy time, why not go in & ask the staff?
