Gyms in Paris-day passes?

I'm having a hard time finding a gym or two in Paris, with heavy weights/squat rack etc, where I can go for the day. Can you help?
Most places I've looked at only allow you in with a membership.

Have you looked into hotels with gyms?

I did a quick google and came up with this.

Why are you in Paris? To exercise? Isn't that an extragant workout?

Thanks Lsky! Great idea.

tomboy: why do you ask? Seems a bit opinionated......

Here's one that allows one-day passes for 29 EU, price only available at the gym, not online:
http://www.cmgsportsclub.com/abonnements/tarifs

Sometimes you have to scroll through a lot of other info to find the non-membership choices. Some places do allow walkups, instead of just booking membership online.

Search "pass journalier salles de fitness a paris" for better results.

I think (am not positive) the public Pontoise pool in the Latin Quarter also has exercise rooms and they have very cheap day rates. I'm not sure how much time you have to check these out. http://www.carilis.fr/centre/espace-sportif-pontoise

I have heard one of the biggest chains in Paris, Club Med gyms, does have day rates even if they don't advertise it. (I think that is the link manouche gives). There is a gym right next to the hotel I usually stay at in Montparnasse, there are several around the city (Cercles de la Forme) but I've never checked if they have day rates, but I think they used to (they used to be a different company, though). they have quite a few around Paris, if you were near one, you could stop in and ask http://www.cerclesdelaforme.com/

Paris isn't really big on great gyms, to be honest, not that I've ever wanted one on vacation, but it's just not as big a business there as in the US.

The link from manouche is right on target. Looks like the Club Med chain has been rebranded in three tiers as ONE, WAOU and PURE. We liked the Bercy location, now a WAOU and going for 39€/visit including towel service. Can't comment on the several ONE properties but online they look decent, cost a bit less.

If you do wind up visiting one of these, please report back.

I was going to suggest the CMG chain, but I believe that is the Club Med group.
There is also Usine Opera but a day pass cost 50 euro.

Often the concierge at your hotel can make a recommendation and get you a day pass.
Have a great trip.

You're welcome 3xmom.

If you have a weight training goal, aerobics from walking just doesn't do it.

I don't use the gym while on vacation but I hope you do report back on what you find.

It might be a big help to many others. That's what we do here.

Plus, give opinions on everything but that's just part of the fun.

If you want a gym with real weight training equipment, skip most hotel gyms in Paris -- you need either a super luxury property like Le Bristol (ok gym) or a huge American style property. I have not checked out the gym at the Hilton Opera yet. But from what i have seen, at most hotels, you will find treadmills and ellipticals and maybe one cable weight machine and to top it off most are in the basement. I used to try to find hotels with gyms but after many disappointments, I gave up on that and started getting day passes at whichever CMG was closest to my accommodations. You can even get a weekly membership. I don't recall if they are mentioned on the websites but I usually go in person and talk to the manager and have been able to purchase a weekly pass. I am going to Paris in two months and my hotel has recommended the healthcity.fr at 71 Blvd Saint Germain. Obviously, I have not been there yet but it looks like it has a good set-up.

I will be travelling this week for work and I needed a gym so I can continue my training regiment. I found that CMG is the best option and there are a few sites that can get you day passes: www.gymlib.com is the one I found and it seems to be just what you need.
