Guinness brewery tours
 

Will be in Dublin next summer for only two days, and would like to know if it is worth the time to visit the Guinness brewery.

Definitely. Even if you don't like beer.

You don't actually see any brewery activity. My impression is that it is more of a Guinness museum. You do get a free pint at the top where, on a clear day, you have a lovely view over Dublin. As of my last visit, you could only go up to the Grivity Bar if you have paid for the tour. Current price is E14. It seems sort of pricey to me but some people love it.

My family and I visited when were in Dublin the Summer before last. I love the beer, but thought the tour was a complete waste of time and money. Note, it's not even their brewery, it's their "storehouse". With that said, some people must love it since it's one of Dublin's most visited tourist attractions.

It was nice, but not a tour and the view from the top was wonderful, but no I don't think it was worth the time or the money...I am not a Guinness fan mu DH is, BUT I did get some great gifts from their shop!

The pint isn't "free". It is included in the price of admission. It is a nice exhibit, but I'd call it an exhibit. It is not a tour of the facility, nor do they really show you how they make the beer. They do present some really interesting history (9000 year lease!) and the view from the top is first rate. The Guiness stew in the restaurant is also very good.

Great if you are a beer fan, maybe not so great if you aren't.

Here is a tip for getting extra pint free and a certificate. When you get to the 5th floor, go around to the other side from the lift that takes you uo to the Gravity Bar. There you find a small counter where, at certain times of the day, staff will teach you how to pull your own pint and give you a certificate to prove it. You get to drink the pint, and then you go up in a glass lift to the 6th floor and exchange your token (given at the ticket office) for another pint of the brown/black stuff!
The Guinness Storehouse is being revamped for 2006 with new exhibitions and interactive displays. But at 14 euro it's really a rip-off - unless you get that second pint!

If you're a big fan of Guinness, I'd recommend the Storehouse...if you're just curious or slightly interested, I'd skip it. It's basically a museum-meets-rock-concert story of how beer is made with a focus on the Guinness history.

The view from the Gravity Bar is nice on a clear day and the food in the restaurant is decent, but not worth the extra 14 euros to get in.
