guided trips from London

We will be spending five nights in London in mid June. I am interested spending one or two nights outside of London as I have been there before (Hubby hasn't though) and I would like to see something new. I would love to see Blenheim castle, or maybe Canterbury, and very open to other suggestions. We love history, gardens, just taking in the countryside. So two questions:

1. suggested two to 2 1/2 day itineraries
2. if anyone has worked with a private guide you would recommend (don't care to try to master driving on the opposite side of the road on such a brief trip).

There is absolutely no need at all for a guide, and no need to drive if you don't want to..

If you want to see Blenheim (Palace - not 'castle') you can take the train to Oxford and a local bus to Woodstock. Very easy and Oxford is very worthwhile.

For Canterbury - just take a train to Canterbury.

If I wanted to take a day trip (which I might), and I didn't want to take public transport (which is unlikely), I would look at a tour from these people:
