Guided Tours of the Louvre

Looking at the Museum's website, I see guided tours (in English) listed for October, November and December daily at 11 am, 2 and 3.45 pm

Does anyone have any info about the tours being offered during the month of September? Seems a bit odd that they are only conducted 3 months out of 12??

I imagine the schedule is the same for September--just go to the information desk and inquire. We were there in September, and there certainly were tours in English being held--given by the Louvre staff, not private tours.

If you can book a tour ahead of time make sure you do. You will avoid waiting in line. I know it works with groups but I'm not sure about individuals.

Thanks - I kind of thought that the schedule would be the same, but thought it was funny that there was no mention of the other months! I'll see if we can book in advance, but I would "guess" that with the public tours you have to take what you can get.

Are the guided tours offered by the Rail Europe for $64.00 a person a good deal? We need a tour that starts around 6:00 PM on Friday evening. Would like to find somthing cheaper for my group of 11 if possible. I have a school teacher and a child of 13, one senior that is 76 in the group of eleven. Some are on limited budgets, so even though all agree to the $64.00 I would like to find a good private tour that I can prepay for. What is available . Again it will be on a Friday, they arrive in Paris around 4:00PM Thanks for any input you may have.

RailEurope is over priced on train tickets so I imagine it would be equally over priced on guided tours. Contact Paris Walks for a price quote for your group. I've done lots of their walks and they are certified guides and knowledgeable about Paris and art.

No matter who you choose, advanced reservations are required for groups of 7 or more so that needs to be arranged. Also, your guide needs to be certified in France.

You can also book tours with the Louvre.

Definitely mention the teacher since that opens doors.

I would also start your own thread next time rather than tagging onto a 6 year old thread. Some people will notice the date at the top (especially the knowledgeable frequent posters on this board) and may look no farther since it's old.

adrienne - it gets me every time.

I guess that I'm just not knowledgeable enough!

ann - you are very knowledgeable!! I usually notice the date but I'm curious as to who topped it. Maybe this time I'll get an answer as to how Nessakay found this old post. Most people who drag up these old things never come back.

adrienne - I NEVER notice the date til someone like you points it out. I always feel such an idiot.
