Hi,

St. Sophia is closed on Monday
Dolmabahce Palace is closed on Monday & Thursday
Topkapi palace is closed on Tuesday
Grand Covered Bazaar and Spice Bazaar are closed on Sunday

If you contact with Sammys Travel they can provide a good itinerary for you as your time and request.

I hope enjoy your Turkey stop.

Cheers

cmt,

I already found that thread. It was outdated and not particularly helpful.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Thanks

Try www.turkeytouristguide.com. The guide, Ovunc Ozdemir, escorted us last June on a great trip. She is very charming, warm and knowledgeable. She also works with Heybeli tourist organization. She can do a wonderful personalized tour. If you contact her, please use our referral (Phyllis Rizzi). Hope you get something wonderful.

Just saw that the tour company Xotic destinations will be having tours in Turkey.(they currently operate in Morocco, Thailand) Istanbul and Turkey are just magical. Get a guide so you can really get around easily and see as much as you can. Its a fantastic place..good food, lovely people, amazing history..

How long would you like to take the tour? ie how many days.
Are you willing to walk or want to be driven around, your main interests will be helpful to advice a guide :-))

Happy travelling,
Murat

We will need 2 days in Istanbul (Oct. 23 & 24) and anticipate mostly walking tours in Istanbul. We will most likely be staying in Sultanahmet, but would also like to see more than just the old town.

We will also have a day in Kusadasi/Ephesus, traveling on Oceania Cruise Line

I have written a similar response today ...I am very new to Fodor's forum but I see that it is very useful so I want to be efficient for other travelers.

We have used the services of a tour guide in Istanbul and she was recommended to us by our friend who met her in their previous trip.

We were to board on the Windstar and before doing so we had 3 days in Istanbul and then 1 day in Ephesus..Our guide was great. I do also recommend to continue using the same guide in Istanbul and Ephesus thinking consistency.

She was very informative, reliable, conscientious and lots of fun. If you want to contact her--she is orignally from istanbul-- [email protected]

Good Luck! and Have Fun!

While not a private tour service, we recently booked a tour of the Topkapi Palace with Context Istanbul for this September. Context operates out of Italy and France as well and do spectacular small group (max 6 people) tours. Pricey but well worth the money. www.contexttravel.com
