Guidebook for Northern Italy

Looking for recommendations on guidebooks for touring in Northern Italy. We are especially interested in drives and interesting villages in the Veneto area. Thanks

don't have one we love. It's a hard region to find the right books for.

We did love the iJourneys.com iPod walking tour of venice, though. so if you're going to Venice. check it out.
the info really enhanced the trip and even beyond Venice to Treviso, etc.

Well, there is a book titled 'Northern Italy's Best loved Driving tours'. That seems spot on for what you a looking for.

There is a Thomas Cook Signpost guide withh good coverage of the Veneto. I think that the Chater's website (UK) has them.

Michelin green books are good.

We stayed in Vicenza and had a car.
In one day we did: Marostica, Bassano, and the Palladian Villa at Emo. We also saw Villa Cornaro from the sidewalk, we got bad info about the days that Villa Cornaro was open to the public.

worldtalaker--i've never done the ipod tours. Maybe this is a good opportunity.
Big Red, Is the "Northern Italy's Best Loved Driving tours", by Frommers? I've seen the Frommer's book. I will check out the Thomas cook one.
Thanks!

Cadogan has a Northen Italy book - at least they used to - and they're one of my favorite guidebook series.

Hi,
We recently used a Cadogan Guide book titled Northeast Italy for our trip to Val Venosta. We found it to be very helpful. I checked, and they can be bought through Amazon.com. We got ours at Barnes and Noble, three years ago.

Thanks all! We've always been a fan of Cadogan books so maybe we'll try that one.

We used the Thomas Cook guide, "Italian Lakes and Mountains: Your Guide to Great Drives." It covers the all of Northern Italy, but particularly the Veneto, the lakes, and the Alto Adige regions. Lots of photographs as well as maps. The cover photo of Malcesine led us to a very pleasant 3-day stay there.

Thanks, enzian--I believe that may be the book Big Red mentioned and I'm looking into that one too. I'll check to make sure there is not another Thomas Cook guide.
