Guide in Tuscany

Has anyone hired a private guide/driver in Tuscany? We'll be landing in Livorno and are looking to visit Pisa,Siena,Lucca for the day. There are a number of tour agencies but I was hoping someone with personal experience could make a recommendation.

When is your trip? We hired Luca Garrapa (hillsandroads.com) after reading some positive reviews in this forum. Our trip is not until July, so I can't give you personal feedback yet. If you search under his name you can find some posts.

Luca Garapa is really wonderful. We used him a few years ago for tours of Siena ( he's a native of Siena), San Gimignano, Lucca, and a few wine tastings. Those days were highlights of our trip to Italy.

Another vote for Luca. We used him for 1.5 days and he's superb. Prices were the best, too, because he's both guide and driver. Many agencies provide 2 people, one to drive/park and the other to guide. People here continue to rave about Luca. If he's busy, try searching here under "Tuscan guide" and some other names will pop up.

I can recommend Giovanni Sirabella from personal experience - he specialises in shore tours from Livorno. www.sunflower-tours.com
