Guide for Normandy Area (D Day)

A search of Fodors for recommendation for a Normandy Guide turned up a number of threads, none more recent than Nov 2004 and most are 2002. Has anyone done a recent tour with a guide they can recommend? Thanks, Jerry

Col. Michael Chilcott is very highly recommended. I've a friend who has toured with him 4 or 5 times. You shold be able to google his name for an address.

Although not as recent as you might wish, this thread (dated March 2005) ...

... makes reference to correspondence with him (Colonel Chilcott). It may well be that he is responsive enough that you can simply write to him, and ask what is new or different (if that even makes any sense) in his prices, availability or any other details that are important to you.

Best wishes,

Rex

We were impressed by our day long tour with www.battlebus.fr

Dale Booth was our guide.

Notice that the Colonel and Battlebus both charge by the head.

f you're going as a group, there are more economical choices. Hook up with one of the guided tours that charge by the carload (1 to 7 people) out of Bayeux, and you can go anywhere you want to on your own schedule. Here are some typical prices for a five- to eight-hour tour:

American Cemetery - Omaha Beach - Pointe du Hoc 65€
Add: Arromanches - Longues-sur-Mer +30€

Les Taxis du Bessin 02 31 92 92 40
