Guide for Frankfurt

We have a forced 5 hour layover at Frankfurt airport. Does anyone know of a guide who could show up beautiful downtown Frankfurt? Is there anything worth seeing in five hours?

For a 5 hour layover, I would recommend taking the S bahn train from the Regional Bahnhof inside the airport to the Hauptbahnhof(main train station in Frankfurt) which is the third stop. At the Hauptbahnhof, take the U4 or U5 to the Roemer/Dom stop (the second stop). This is what you will see (not my pictures): http://tinyurl.com/4pyocu
There is enough traditional german restaurant/cafes to languish in and the Dom/cathedral to visit. If you prefer a museum, then head to the Staedel museum instead. Hope that helps.

There is no need for a guide.

You can easily explore downtown Frankfurt on foot. The leftovers of historical downtown are in a small area (the "Römer" is the centerpiece).

Frankfurt has several excellent museums, some of them are on the riverbanks.

With all respect, "beautiful" is not a description I would look for to describe Frankfurt.

Our friends had a great time during their stopover in Frankfurt on their way to vacation in Valencia. They were totally impresssed with Frankfurt's Roemer and the modern tall skyscrapers on the west side. They had no special interest in Germany but thought their stopover gave them just a perfect glimpse of old and modern Germany. They especially enjoyed the traditional german food & scene in the Roemer area.
