Guide for Amsterdam

I will be arriving to Amsterdam from Nairobi Kenay at 5:30 AM (September 12) and my flight to North America does not leave until 3:30 PM.

Does anyone have the name and e-mail of a good guide that can show us (2) around Amsterdam for about 4-5 hours

Thank you

Percy,
I don't think you need a guide in Amsterdam. Just research what you might like to see such as The Anne Frank House which I think is a must, take a canal boat ride which is a good introduction and there is an excellent tram system in the city. I would take a taxi into Amsterdam after what I decided what I would like to see. We did the boat ride along the canals first. You are such a good researcher I don't think you would have much difficulty with Amsterdam. I really like the city and found it easy to get around.

You might hire one of those bicycle rickshaws. For an hour they cost €25 approximate, including the guy who pedals. He's not an official guide but probably knows the town well. See http://tinyurl.com/mln4dz

Don't take a taxi - use the train. taxis from Schiphol are expensive and can be a real rip off.
Decide what you would like to see before you go. Buy tickets online to save queueing. Maybe use the museum boat to get around, thereby combining a boat trip with visiting the museums you wish to see.
Make sure you are back at Schiphol in plenty of time for your flight home.

Thank you everybody for the great ideas.

I will research the places I want to see and then go from there.

It just dawned on me that the fellow who lives across the Street from me is from Amsterdam !! He went back home for a month last year..so I will pick his brain too.

Once again Thank you all very much.

Percy, You will have enough time to do a tour of Amsterdam. Since you arrive very early and the Tourist Offices won't be open yet in Amsterdam centre, get a map of Amsterdam at schiphol. Go on a do-it-yourself walking tour (see link) and take a boat trip, add amuseum and return to Schiphol.
