Guernsey or Jersey -day visit ? or overnight ?

Need input regarding visiting EITHER Guernsey or Jersey....which one did you like ?
Easy to do it as a DAY TRIP or would an overnight be better ? We would be coming from the St.Malo port and would be going on the passenger ferry. Also, would have already spent time
along the COASTS in Brittany. Many thanks to all who can give a reply !

I went from St-Malo to Jersey - stayed overnight there - spend the next day on Guersey and stayed the night in Jersey - it's a fairly long boat ride form St-Malo I think and it was one of the very roughest rides I've ever been on - unusual I think.

But for one day I'd take either one but not both - Jersey seemed a little 'more' more there - cows are different on each island and oh so cute.

Have you looked at the prices yet!
They seem to be around €45-€71 - £35-£56 return for a foot passenger which seems a bit pricy for a day trip
