Gtg's in Paris this summer ?

So Woinparis is dead and whathello is moribund.
However.
I am always game for a gtg.
Is there one that I would join this summer ?
I am most of July and half of august in paris. Not the week ends I have better things to do. (Family !).
If you want a gtg I can join.

Since I am posting I am wishing you a nice 4th of July and will recommend a nice Resto.

Le chemise (yes le) close to république. Very good. Apéritive is prohibitive and global price is just too much but a nice evening.

Followed by a cocktail in a hole in the wall called candelabris or close. Excellent guêpe verte (green wesp)

Sinon all is well for me I hope the same goes for you. I feel kind of liberated since I don't post anymore actually. Gives me time for other things.

Wishing you the best !

Do you have nine lives like a cat ?? ;)

Are you there in the Fall? I haven't picked my dates yet but will be doing London, Normandy and finish up in probably Paris for a couple of days (but I might return through London instead)

StCirq Jul 5th, 2017 01:46 AM

I have to go to Bordeaux to renew my passport sometime late summer, and figured we might as well try the new 2-hour TGV to Paris, but no firm dates yet. Probably early October. You know how to reach me.

iris1745 Jul 5th, 2017 02:23 AM

I always knew you were watching Pariswat.

My plans are ongoing for next year.

We shall see.

P.S. janisj is renting an apartment!! LOL

1994 Jul 5th, 2017 02:53 AM

I'm game. In Paris from mid July to mid August.

Whathello Jul 5th, 2017 03:24 AM

not 9 lives but some yes ;-)

I am not coming back though - the only thing I am interested in is to meet physically people, not being on any travel forum anymore. Too much of 'is Paris safe' and 'how can i go to my hotel' for me.

Since at one point or another I will kill this address I remind you of - for those who haven't my email - a temporary one : ikkekmk dot gmail dot com.

1994, I'm in Paris 3-4 nights a week between 14/07 and 15/08. Week-ends in southern France

Traviata Jul 5th, 2017 03:39 AM

I am glad to see you here again. It won't be this summer, but, it will be this October/November and we will hope for a GTG for sure and we hope you will be there!!

1994 Jul 5th, 2017 03:59 AM

I'm flexible, so if something develops, I'm happy to attend.

gomiki Jul 5th, 2017 05:19 AM

Whathello, I have missed you here. I always enjoy your posts.
Please pop in now and then.

travelchat Jul 5th, 2017 06:20 AM

Whathello:
Greetings! Good to see you here. Sorry so many "old timers" have left Fodor. Are you/they posting on other travel sites? If so, which?

I remember what a good evening we had at our GTG at Chartier Racine with Traviata and spouse and others several years ago.

I was in Paris in May for a quick three days before a river cruise with many things to do so no time to fit in a GTG unfortunately.

May you and your family stay well.
Eve

That would be nice, I'd love to spend more evenings in great Paris bistros with lively conversation and laughter. But no trips to Paris planned as of now.

janisj Jul 5th, 2017 07:24 AM

>>P.S. janisj is renting an apartment!! LOL<<

If you mean in Paris - Uh - nope. Might do in London though (its legal there)

>>Since at one point or another I will kill this address <<

Please don't. Even if you don't post very often you can at least check in every once in a while.

Traviata Jul 5th, 2017 07:29 AM

travelchat.......thank you for that happy memory....maybe we will be lucky and you might return in October/November. I would love to do it all again....

Welcome back!

swandav2000 Jul 5th, 2017 07:50 PM

Hallo Whathello!

Like others posting here, I am sorry not to see your posts here. While I don't always agree with what you say (but who always agrees with another person??), I have loved your spirit and your perspective.

I won't be in Paris this fall but will be in Dec. If you're still willing to meet with Fodors folks then, I'd love to see you!

P.S. As for all those “'is Paris safe' and 'how can i go to my hotel' “ posts? Ignore them! Chose where to share your wisdom. :-)

UNCalum Jul 6th, 2017 03:36 PM

I expect to be in Paris on Dec.12 and 13 and would love a GTG. Actually, I will be in the city a bit longer, but my students arrive on the 14th, and scheduling around their
activities would be difficult.

Hello all

Thanks for your nice messages...

That is funny to realize how quickly one (me) can get un-addicted to forums. I guess it must be like smoking. First days you watch your fingers and check the pack of cigarettes to see if something is left in it.

Then you discard the pack. Then you forget about the pack. And so I just realize last I was here was 9 days ago...

But yes, thanks to your posts I'll keep my access and pop up from time to time.

As for other forums ... Well I didn't even bother looking on TA when I was still posting here, have no access there so..
Virtual Travel closed just a few weeks after we had a row (they found I was snarky, I found they were rude !) I went (back) on Rick Steves after leaving Fodors and left soon after when I posted a honest answer that was considered rude. Life is not easy when you ahve a big mouth ;-)

So no more travel forums for me. Back to reading books in the metro. The waters of eternal youth from Donna Leon for the moment.

Back on GTG's

1994 : I am the next 4 weeks available most mondays to thursdays. I moved my base to southern France and commute to Paris every week.

Ah, no not next week...
24/25/26 of july ?

UN : 12/12 is a thursday so I am 95% sure to in Paris.

IRIS : I naswered on your thread.

All : have a good day !

French : bonne fête !

1994 Jul 14th, 2017 07:17 AM

Bonne fête to you Whathello!

I have very few commitments during this visit, so nearly any day is fine for me. Friday July 21 and Saturday July 22 are a bit busy, but you said Monday through Thursday, so those days don't really count anyway.

Elsiejune2 Jul 14th, 2017 08:45 AM

Will be in Paris 4-10 October 2017.
Anyone interested in GTG?

Happy Bastille Day,
EJ
