GTG May 4 to 11 in Paris
Hello, I was playing on the computer last week and put in a lowball $450 for Paris and UHOH!! I got it. I have luckily been able to secure a budget apartment also on such short notice.
I would very much like to say Bonjour over a drink with some fellow Fodorites while I am there. Anybody interested? I have absolutely no plans at this point and could pretty much go with the flow.

It is US Airways Atl. to Philadelphia to CDG. It is a nice Airbus 330 to Paris. Decent schedule also. I was pleased. I did not expect to win and was not really prepared. I had just read bidding for travel and the administrator had told someone $450 was not even in the ballpark so don't even try it. Oh well!!
Still hope for GTG. I just made a list of things I want to do. Marmottan, Nisson du Com., Viaducts, Passages, Giverny, BHV, Montmarte and Marais walks, Village St. Paul shops, wine bar, Antiques on rue Jacob, Parc Monceau, Promenade Plantee, Alexander Nevsky Cath, Passage Dodat dolls, Chapon, Michael Chardun and Jean Hevin Chocolates.
Then there are a few restaurants of course and people watching at many cafes. I should stay very busy for 8 days in the lovely Spring weather.

Hello Lutece, It would be a pleasure to meet you and hubby for a drink. I think if I had an apartment in Paris I would even love the chores. I have no schedule so think of what would work for you. Hope some others could join.

I can't be there and am extremely jealous but am topping this in support of your GTG. I've been to a GTG in Paris (with elberko and elvira, no less!) and it was fun. I'd like to suggest you meet at Le Sancerre, located on Avenue Rapp. I thought that was pretty easy to find!

Hello LVSue and Lutece, If I am looking at the dates correctly, it seems that the 8th might work for all. Not anyone's first or last day.
Should we try for May 8?? Let me know. I look forward to meeting you all.

May 8 fine with me! What area are you staying in?
I just looked at all the notes that I have taken from this site in preparation for my trip and discovered not one museum, not one church, not one daytrip (except for the one to London), just food—restaurants, food shops, chocolate shops. Methinks I need to begin formulating a plan!

Oh dear, we will be arriving on May 9 and will be in Paris until the 17th. Does this make it too late for us to join in the GTG? We are staying on Avenue de la Bourdonais. I would love to meet with some others. It would be my first GTG. Let me know.

jazzyred, If LVSue could meet on May 9th, her last day and you on May 9th, your 1st day, it could work. I am still completely free so May 9 is ok by me. I am near Nation but would travel whereever.

We arrive early morning on the 9th. We have to take our luggage to ParisPerfect from the airport. I think there is time in between as the real check in time isn't until 3:00 pm. However the evening would probably work well too. Keep me posted. ~o)

Looks like the 8th or 9th wins. We leave next Friday-can't wait and return May 7. I'll keep an eye on this board to see which date you're meeting. There are 5 of us so it could be tough getting together even if it's our time there.

I am good for the 9th. LVSue, will this work for you? When we hear from Sue we can pick place and time.
I am excited about this GTG.
Karen, I would also meet with your group on an earlier date. Nothing wrong with 2 GTG's on one trip.

Sorry, I'll be wending my way across the Atlantic on the 9th! But if more people can meet then, feel free to change; I won't get my feelings hurt.
ggnga, you are exactly right: one time I did meet with two groups, beginning and end of my trip and enjoyed both. I'd be delighted to meet with you and Karen et al (just not the 5th).
