GTG London August 7 or 8: Flight booked
My flight is booked. I'm going to be yodeling my way through London on August 7 - 11. Bringing some more yodelers too.
Anyone want to meet up? |
Hey, we can even compare thongs! :) (see thread on the lounge)
Not if you're going to yodel!
Put a Pimm's in my hand and I'll be too busy to yodel.
schuler...
I'd love to meet you. I don't think I can yodel (though if CW turns up I might just manage to churn one out!) and I can't stand thongs! I usually work Fridays and Saturdays, but I may well be able to get the 8th off (or at least the afternoon) so the evening of the 8th might work for me, or even Sunday 9th for lunch as then it can be a day trip for me (I live in the south Cotswold hills). Anyway I've now topped this thread so perhaps some more people will see it. Keep in touch. |
Thanks Julia! Wow! I'd love to meet you. Thanks for the response.
Thongs? Yodelling? What fresh hell is this?
Hi Patrick, It's just a few Swiss and one American/Swiss enjoying the sights in London. Because thongs rub between my toes, I think I'll leave them at home.
Let us know where and when and Bikerscott and I will do our best to make it!
schuler. Bop over to Lisbon and I will put a glass of port in your hand. That is where I will be.
Oh, you mean THOSE sort of thongs - I thought you were talking about the other kind LOL!
Salü All,
Jamikins: Keep an eye on this thread and we'll see what develops. Would love to meet the both of you. Sher: Oh I adore Lisbon. Give Lobo and his wonderful wife a big hug from me. Wishing you a wonderful trip! Julia: Clothing terminology is quite hard for me to keep up on. I'm an American and teach English with British books. Just yesterday I had to ask someone what a "vest" was in British English. I know about trainers, trousers and jumpers are but there are still a few words I get hung up on. Thongs, however, is a word that parts of the US used whereas other parts used flip flops. Interesting linguistic history. |
The one that gets me here all the time is PANTS....to me, being CDN, pants = trousers. But when you tell a coworker in Britain that you like their pants you get very strange looks as pants in Britain = underpants!
Gruezi miteinand!
Here's a list of strong maybe's for August 8: Julia T Jamikins Bikerscott I did a bit of research and found this pub, Royal Oak near Borough, not far from our hotel for a GTG. What do you think? http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs...al_Oak/Borough Or open to other suggestions! |
Sounds good to me!
schuler. When we are at Adega Gravatas, I will raise a glass to you and wish you well.
Hello Sher, Oh please do. What a lovely place to eat, great food, wonderful service and just the perfect place to be. Lucky you! My husband's tie is hanging on the wall!
have a great time, schuler! I'm sorry I will have missed you by a couple of months; I was just in London last month. And, it is certainly too bad C_W isn't here....he would definitely be there. He was the only one who came when I was in London; so hospitable. We ended up hitting three pubs before having a fish and chips dinner. The pubs are all so gorgeous and adorable. Let me know if you need any London advice.
schuler. Ours will be too. A Pittsburgh Steeler Tie! I don't think they have any of those yet.
I will give Lobo and Mrs. Lobo your regards. |
I have a vague recollection that I might have visited that pub, and if so it's a good one. But it's near where I work so I can check it out again. I might be around for this one if you'll let me...
