The quickest and cheapest means of transport is the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station in West London. Trains leaves every 30 minutes (or is it 15?) and takes about 15 minutes in. Can't remember the exact fare, think £11.00 one way.

Cabs are very expensive and takes much much longer due to the traffic.

You may get better advice than this but I have always taken either 1) The Heathrow Express to Paddington and then got a cab, or 2) Got on the Picadilly Line at HR and got off at the nearest underground station to my hotel and walked the few yards.

I used the Piccadilly Line once and it is cheaper, but we had to carry luggage up a flight of stairs when we reached Victoria Station. That was OK for me, but my mom was struggling. We were lucky that a very nice man offered to help, but you can't always count on that. Also the Picadilly line took a lot longer than the Heathrow Express. My personal choice would be Heathrow Express and a cab, but if time and carrying luggage are not an issue, then the Picadilly Line will work.

cabs are pricey. check out justairports.com, and it's cheaper if you use cash instead of a credit card. Last year it cost us 53GBP + tip for roundtrip transportation from LHR to So. Kensington. One way would be a bit more than 1/2 that amount. We were a family of 4. We had an 'estate' vehicle, whoch was a minivan. They were very reliable, right on time.

What do you mean by "best"?

Cheapest? the tube right into the center of town for less tha £4.

Fastest? The Heathrow Express train - 15 minutes. But that only gets you as far as Paddington Station and you will need to take the tube or a cab from there.

Easiest? A pre-booked car service that picks you up at the terminal and drops you at the fron door of your hotel. Expensive if you are traveling solo - but a bargain if 2 or 3 are sharing.

If you are on your own - I'd recommend the tube if you don't have huge luggage, or the Paddington Express, then a cab if you do have lots of luggage.

if there are 2 or more a car service is the easiest/economical way to do it.

Whatever you decide -- DO NOT hail a cab - that will be a £45+ trip.
