Grosvenor Square London Marriott

Staying at this hotel for three nights. Looks like close to many sites/shops. Questions: from LHR, take the Tube system? What do you feel is the absolute must to see in that area? Three ladies that like to walk and absorb the life - not especially wander the museums...want to be outside and try to see what Londoners see/do. Although, thinking about the V&A for afternoon tea. Also, want to go for a Cheese Toastie at Borough Market (1 Stoney Street) Kappacasein Dairy.

You can take the tube directly from Heathrow to Green Park; Piccadilly line. Maybe 10 minutes walk from there.
Go (window)shopping in Mount Street - go to Scott's for fish.
Go for cocktails at the Beaumont, very close to your hotel
Check out Shepherd Market, not far from your hotel; Al Hamra for Lebanese food. Or Kitty Fisher's.

I have stayed at this Hotel and it is in a lovely area. It is closer to Oxford Street which can be very crowded. I seem to think it is a longer walk to Piccadilly Line than 10 minutes though. I know most of the readers on this forum are against Hop-On-Hop-Off tours, but if it is your first time to London it is a good way to see an overview of London.

It would be more like a 15 minute walk and probably longer if you have luggage, and a real slog if the weather is crap. Either - take the tube to Green Park (or Hyde Park Corner, or Knightsbridge) and catch a taxi from there . . . or . . . Book a car service like all the way from LHR to the hotel. Should cost about 35 unless you have a boat load of luggage and would be from arrivals to the door of the hotel without a slog at either end.
