Grocery store in Berlin

We will be spending 5 nights in Berlin at the Holiday Inn Express Alexanderplatz (Stralauer Str. 45, 10179). What is available for grocery stores in the area? Specifically, we are looking for nuts and protein powder.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are a few supermarkets around Alexanderplatz, some small ones and Kaufland, which is bigger. I would think you would be able to find them there. Nuts = Nüsse, protein powder = Proteinpulver. Failing that there are two other options: a Drogerie like Rossmann, which is like a drugstore without drugs, or you might have luck in a health food shop (Reformhaus). There is Vitalia in a shopping centre attached to the train station, and Rossmann also:

Located in: Einkaufsbahnhof Berlin Alexanderplatz
Address: Dircksenstraße, Alexanderpl. 2, 10178 Berlin, Germany

Kaufland is at:

Rochstraße 7
10178 Berlin-Mitte

Both the Drogerie and the Reformhaus are interesting kinds of places to shop. Come armed with Google Translate on your phone and simply hover your phone over any text you want to read.

Good luck!

Netto www.netto-online.de/lebensmittel/c-N01
Edeka EDEKA - Wir lieben Lebensmittel
Rewe www.rewe.de
Kaufland www.kaufland.de

each of them has an online presence.

google maps will show you the locations.
search for: "supermarket near Stralauer Str. 45 Berlin"

Closest to your hotel you have two Edekas and two Nettos. Edekas are standard grocery stores, with full range of products, and usually very pleasant layout and lighting. It's worth visiting an Edeka just to admire the aesthetics put into the everyday experience of grocery shopping in Germany. Nettos are more bare bones - - they have a wide range of groceries but might have some brand and product 'holes' in their selection, are almost designed to look cheap, and you may save a bit of money, there but might not.

That Späti in your area is also pretty good (Späti Alx) and so is the Asia Markt at Alexa. Somehow I like Rewe better than Edeka but that's a preference thing. Rewe has things like protein powder etc. There's one at Hackescher Markt, not too far from where you are staying (across Karl Liebknecht Strasse) Also Decathlon has lots of pretty good quality and relatively inexpensive protein powder and other supplements. The Bio Company under the arches on Dircksenstrasse is your best bet I should think https://goo.gl/maps/M97YKVpsLipmDKVN6

Also relatively near you is Reformhaus Quentin, https://goo.gl/maps/W6oXmRA6yuQavEvJA, only open Wednesday - Saturday though

Thanks, Lavandula. I have added your suggestions to my list of stores to look at. Also thanks for reminding me to download the Google Translate app on my phone.

Thanks for the suggestions. No problem on the Reformhaus Quentin as we are arriving on Friday.

Thanks dfourth, I looked at the websites for both Edeka and Netto.
