Gresham Hotel, Dublin, Ireland

Has anyone stayed at the Gresham Hotel in Dublin recently? How was your room and experience? Did you find good breakfast and lunch places within short walking distance? What is best and most economical way to get to hotel from airport???????? Need feedback, leaving in 2 weeks. thanks all

the Gresham isn't in the best location - just be a bit wary at night (it's fine during the day). For food, you're very close to the Epicurean Food Hall on Middle Abbey Street - there's a fantastic selection of yummy food there! You're also reasonably close to Temple Bar where there are lots of restaurants and bars.

To get from the airport to O'Connell Street, you can get the Aircoach (www.aircoach.ie). It drops you off right opposite the Gresham and picks you up just outside for your return journey. It was €6 one way and €10 return, but I do believe the prices have increased to €7 and €12 respectively.

It's not worth the money in my opinion. You stay fare better in a better area. I found in the past the rates quoted to tourists and the rates for Irish were different. My friend booked this a few years ago and I felt the rate was high. I called and tried to book at the exact time and the rate was different. Its nothing special and at night its a bit crummy in the area.

Try these:
Russel Court - Harcourt Street
Leeseon Inn Leeseon Street
Jurys IFC
Clarion IFC
Trinity Lodge - S. Frederick Street. Its a great location and I book people from work in here.
Buswells - Molesworth Street
Brown's - St Stephens green (NOT Gardiner Street)

Mike, that would be Dublin, "Ireland" as opposed to Dublin ... where? Illinois? Michigan? Could be worse, I suppose. Someone recently posted an enquiry about "Paris, France". As opposed to Paris, Texas, I suppose. No, don't tell me, I know there's a Cairo in Illinois.

Thanks for the reply messages. Found some useful info. As usual two people can have two very different experiences in the exact same place. A traveller needs to know how to roll with the punches and be wary...everywhere. You are right, TOURISTS ARE ALWAYS TARGETS!
Since we do not expect to be out alone late at night I think the Gresham will be alright....it will have to be, it is
bought and paid for. I will take your cautions to heart.
