Grenoble in July

My husband is going to a conference in Grenoble for one week next summer and I am thinking about going along. Although, I have searched, I can’t find very much information about Grenoble. It looks like a beautiful city, can anyone tell me more about it?

they have a great gondola ride and I think the longest street in France? A good shopping distric. People are very nice and friendly there. It was also the home to the olympics a long time ago. I stayed with locals so didn't eat out but they have a great bar with 100 differents kinds of Volka(sorry forgot the name) If you in to trying a new drink.
