Greek tour companies

We have taken several independent trips the past few years to Spain, France and Italy. Now we are thinking about going to Greece in late spring 2007 and trying to decide whether to go on our own or take a tour. Ideally we would like a combination of island stays and a cruise and of course we will see Athens (briefly) I assume on our way in or out. I have found a company, Homeric Tours, that offers several combinations of land and cruise stays. Has anyone here used this company or know where I could find reviews of it? Usually I use Tripadvisor but no luck there so far. Also any other suggestions of tours to Greece would be welcome and of course if you would like to suggest a plan that we undertake on own, feel free. Looking to spend around 2 weeks and approx $6500.

I went to Greece last March with my daughter and booked a hotel in Athens and a four day tour of the mainland through Fantasy Travel. Everything went smoothly. They also have island packages. This was a nice way to combine independent travel and a brief tour.

My trip report is here:

The 3 or 4 day Greek Island tours are basically now one cruise company. There are many travel agencies that combine land and sea packages using them. The cruise ships are not very high end at all, the point being that it is more about the destination than the ship. Unless, you want to go on a 7 day or longer cruise, then you will have a much bigger selection of cruises in that area, even the very costly Sea Dream Yachts.

Check out this website www.tourlite.com for what is typical.

Something else to note. The 3 and 4 day cruises usally stop at 2 places each day, so it can pretty rushed.
