Greek Restaurants in Rome
 

Hi <BR><BR>Although we only usually eat food of the country in which I'm in, I'm looking for a good Greek restaurant in Rome where my family and I can eat lunch/dinner on Sat.5th May (Greek Easter Day).<BR><BR>Any suggestions<BR><BR>Thanks <BR><BR>Christina

Christina,<BR>We were recently in Italy and 99 per cent of restaurants are Italian, which I have to say we got a bit bored with after a while. We are used to a wide variety of cuisines where we live. We did see a few Chinese restaurants and signs pointing to an Indian and a Lebanese restaurant but thats all we saw in 7 days in Rome.<BR>Good luck, Kay

Thanks for the reply,<BR><BR>We too eat a variety of cuisines and although I'm looking forward to Italian for 9 nights, thought it would be nice on our Easter day to have the traditional Greek soup Mayeiritsa. Hi christina<BR>I'm not of Greek origin but I'm a Grecophile and I was curious so I did a search.<BR>at triptool.com (I think that was the site) I found this<BR><BR>Ouzerie<BR>via dei Salumi,2<BR>in Trastavere<BR><BR>"The only restaurant in Rome where you can enjoy the atmosphere, sights, sounds and flavours of a Greek tavern. There is background music every evening and live music on Fridays and Saturdays. There are free sirtaki lessons on Tuesdays.<BR><BR>The menu offers typical Greek dishes, such as moussaka made with meat and aubergines, dolmades, rice in vine leaves, spanakopita with ricotta and spinach, oktapodi crassato, squid cooked in wine, and garides, cheese cooked with tomatoes and prawns. The wines are obviously all Greek."<BR><BR>I don't know how current the info is, or even if the place would be open on Easter Day, but your hotel can inquire for you.<BR>good luck<BR>

You may consider:<BR><BR>AKROPOLIS - Via San Francesco a Ripa 103, tel. 0658332600 - closed Mondays<BR><BR>OUZERI' - Via dei Salumi 2, tel. 065816378 - open only in the evenings; may closed on Sundays; live music on Fridays and Saturdays; to enter, one has to pay an association fee (Euro 2)<BR><BR>Both are in Trastevere, relatively close to the Isola Tibertina bridge. The first caters fast food and the 2nd one is a typical tavern maintained by a cultural association. <BR><BR>Haven't been in either.
