GREEK ISLANDS: What about "Meltemi Winds"

I'll be (next late September) in Cyclades Islands travelling by ferry and "speedboat". I wonder how will be the famous "Meltemi Winds". Any info.?

I was in Crete last year when the Meltemi were blowing. I have to say that on the beach it was not much fun...not so much sunbathing as sandblasting!

Off the beach it was positively pleasant.

Paulo

I'm usually in Mykonos in September and haven't yet suffered the battering the winds give the island in both July and August.

The first couple of weeks tend to be breezy but closer to the end of the month it can be quite calm.

Late September is especially nice there as it is a little quieter and the weather more tolerable.

Bill

Paulo; I'm shocked that you do not read mark and inwardlt digest every trip report I post!! :-)

We were in Crete the last week of August and first week in September.

It was only an issue on the south coast, not the north

I guess it just depends on the day. Some days were windy when we were there in September while others were calm. Fortunately all the ferry trips we took were very smooth.
