B&B's Devon-Cornwall

Looking for recommendations on good but reasonable B&B's in northern Cornwall/southern Devon especially around Torbay, Totnes, Dartmouth, Plymouth. We like being in country or village places. We use Smoothhound.co.uk a lot so experiences with their online brochure listings in the area would be especially useful.

All the places you mention are in South Devon. North Cornwall is a totally different area.

I find that if you go to google, and type in the search box <<Tourist Information>> followed by the name of the town or village you would like to stay in or near, you will get lots of links that will offer accommodation and other info on that place. To help...

Personally I love the north Cornish coast, and often rent a house in Boscastle. Just a couple of the websites...

I'm a little confused - Northern Cornwall and Southern Devon are on opposite sides of the penninsula. N Cornwall is next to N Devon, and S Cornwall is next to S Devon. So which is it you want?

As julia_t says, each place you mention is in S Devon

Kitley House Country Hotel. We stayed for 3 nights recently - a deal from LateRooms at £79 per night. The house itself is in an impressive setting, with a long, leafy drive up to the hotel, which is a marvellous and very old house with huge beds! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were wonderful and well cooked. The dinner menu didn’t appeal due to its price and content - almost each main course had an ingredient neither of us enjoys. We drove over to the next village Newton Ferrers where the pub has reasonable meals but we had a wonderful meal at the Ship Inn at Noss Mayo - watch the tide though!

People are going to think this is the only book I possess as I recommend it so often! Check this website (same as the book). www.specialplacestostay.co.uk

This shows B&Bs, gueshouses, hotels etc on an interactive map, so you can see exactly where they are. It also directs you to each place's website (if it has one).

This may help avoid the confusion in your post about exactly where you want to go, as pointed out by julia_t and janisj.

Have fun!

We stayed at Brittany Guest House in Plymouth and felt excellent.

They are two minutes walk from Plymouth Sound, a beautiful natural harbour.
Nice and clean accommodation, very good English breakfast, a big cuddly furry cat, nice hosts.

If you are trying to go to both Devon and Cornwall, you might try Tor Cottage as a place in between the two. I think it's [email protected] or something similar. You might be able to Google it.
