Greek Island Hopping in October?

My fiance and I are going to greece from Oct 3rd to Oct 16th and would like to visit Crete, Santorini & Mykonos. We are wondering how the ferries are in October? Few and far between? Reliable? Should be book them now or wait until we get to Greece?

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks!

No need to worry for that thime of the year. All three islands mentioned have more than a couple of daily ferries - even in late October.

There's quite a nice company for booking ferries if you go to: www.viamare.com. There you can see an up to date timetable of the different ferries and you can buy tickets online and have them delivered to in in advance. I think you should book them in advance as there could be a lot of demand.

Viamare does NOT have a complete schedule of Greek ferries. Nobody - not even Greek ferry companies - have schedules more than a few weeks in advance. There are ferry operators that do not have web sites and do not advertise services through overseas agents. The Greek government licences ferry services, but never publishes schedules for more than two or three weeks in advance. As Yiannis said, these islands all have at least two sailings a day, even at the end of October. One advantage of going in October is that services are never fully booked, so you can buy tickets each day just before you board your ship.
