Greek Island Ferries

We are traveling in October: Athens-Crete-Santorini-Athens and cannot find ferry schedules covering the entire route. Does anyone have a source for valid OCTOBER schedules?

I can't help you, but no matter where the ferry goes, you'll have a wonderful time!

As I recall, the Greek ferry system doesn't book that far in advance, especially for October as the season winds down.

We didn't find much until the month before, and ended up getting our tickets at a tourist office in Athens --before sailing to Samos.

I'd keep checking the web sites, including hellas, blue star, etc. But don't be surprised if they're not up for a few more weeks.

It's true that October's schedules aren't all published yet. _www.gtp.gr_ is the most comprehensive website for Greek ferry schedules. Some routes' timetables remain the same all year long, some will change because of the lack of demand. If your dates aren't covered on this website when you check your route just check back in a few weeks when the changes have been decided upon. It won't be too much longer before October's schedule is posted

Piraeus-Crete will show schedules to both Chania or Iraklion. Crete to Santorini will be Iraklion-Santorini, either by car ferry or Hellenic Seaways express passenger boat. There's also a fast boat from Hellenic Seaways from Piraeus to Chania.

ALWAYS check locally for any changes, because they can happen at the last minute without notice. High winds and breakdowns can also cause cancellations.

You don't need schedules for that route. The basic service from Piraeus to Crete (Hania or Rethymnon or Iraklion) is 1 per day roughly at 20:00. Crete to Santorini is more seasonal but look for Rethymnon or Iraklion to Santorini. If you will be in Eastern Crete Ag.Nikolaos or Sitia to Santorini approx 3/week. There are new hi-speed services starting with competing companies so contact the ferry agents.

Santorini to Piraeus is a regular tourist route around 3x per day at that time of the year one at 08:00 ish and the others at various times.

As per usual contact the ferry agents on the respective island for up to date details. The timings I have quoted above have been running for decades.

I'm having difficulty finding a ferry schedule for Mykonos to Santorini 1st week in October? Any info on this route?

This is the only scheduled ferry between Mykonos and Santorini without having to change boats on Paros:

http://www.greekislands.gr/hfd/

This ferry runs on M,Tu,Fri,Sat,Sun in October only until the 2nd, unfortunately. After that it will still run but the schedule has not yet been posted.

You can, however, take the car ferry from Mykonos to Paros then another ferry to Santorini. I believe there is a daily ferry Mykonos-Paros, and I know for sure there's a ferry from Paros to Santorini every day. Whether or not the connection is favorable in October I don't know since the schedules for October aren't published yet.
