I brought home jewelry, clothing, an evil eye keychain and other assorted stuff, but what I now cherish the most are the rocks I picked up from a beach in Hydra. Free and beautiful!

Also a lovely guiter, a sas, bought in Turkey.

You can get Greek food all over the US, I wouldn't bother with that. Imagine honey exploding in your luggage!

I brought home gold earrings and a lovely woven tablecloth bought on the slope of the Acropolis that I was assured was hand made. I'm not sure, but it is very pretty, a natural cream color and fringed.

Couldn't bring any home, but I really liked the coffee frappes.

Just wondering where you can get the pumice stones, are they available on all islands or specific ones?

I'm just back and I found lovely silver "eggs" on Santorini. They are decorative, and come in various sizes, ranging from 2.5" to 5", and cost between 75 EU to 150 EU, depending on size and detail. I bought one for my husband decorated with religious icons, and one for my son representing Greek history and mythology. Especially since we were there for Easter, these are wonderful momentos. They did create quite a stir with security on the way home, however. They looked like hand grenades on the xray machine! I have them in my china cabinet and they look beautiful.

Thanks for the many good ideas.
Any other suggestions that aren't too breakable?
And BTW - is our sad little dollar making everything over there wildly expensive? (restaurants, too)

Two things you should bring back:

1) A tan (hopefully the weather will be nice enough for a modest tan)

2) Pasteli made with pure honey and no preservatives. Don't know if they're readily available throughout Greece, but in the Peloponesse they're available everywhere.

Here's one brand:

Here's my contribution to this old thread. Hand-made tablecloths, lace, needlepoint and embroidered pillow covers, etc., travel MUCH better than honey and booze. But needlework done by the nuns at Meteora, and crafts from all over Greece in shops in the Plaka in Athens.
