Greek Ferries Help!

Hello,

I am trying to determine whether my boyfriend and I should take a ferry or fly back to Athens from Mykonos. We would like to take the fastest route possible, which would normally be a plane but I think the Athens airport is an hour away from central Athens.

Can someone please tell me whether it would be faster for us to fly or take a hydrofoil from Mykonos to Piraeus or Rafina. Does anyone know which ferries make that route and where I can find a schedule and costs?

Thanks so much!

Blue Star Ferries operates the Seajet II from Mykonos to Rafina. This link will take you to their website.

Place your cursor over "Domestic Lines" and a dropdown menu will appear. The cost is 31.60 Euros one way. The Seajet II leaves Mykonos at 11:50 every day during the summer, stops at Tinos on the way to Rafina. The total time involved is just over 2 hours. From Rafina into Athens takes about 40 minutes.

Brotherleelove2004...thank you for your help! I went on the Blue Star Ferries site and everything was going well until I tried to book a reservation. After I entered the destination, date and time I wanted and pressed continue, the site switched to Greek and I couldn't understand a thing! Please help. Do you know how I can make a reservation? Thanks for your help!

I don't know what to tell you. I just did a mock reservation and was able to continue from page to page in English for as long as I could before they needed a credit card number. I suggest you try again and look for a small British Flag on each page you encounter, this will keep you moving forward in English. I don't know what else to suggest.

I started on the web page I gave you above and clicked on the animated "Book Online-Click Here" icon in the left-hand column. Not once did I see Greek lettering after that.

Greek ferries are run by various companies who frequently change their schedules. Complete information will not be available more than a few weeks in advance. Book tickets when you are in Greece - it won't be necessary more than a few days in advance.
There are no hydrofoils from the Athens area to Mikonos; newer fast craft are mostly catamarans, but are still more liable to disruption in bad weather than bigger ships.

I am also going to visit Mykonos in June. I would like to ask what transportation should I take from Rafina into Athens? Thank you for your kind assistance!!

There is a bus. When you're on Mykonos ask where you purchase your ferry ticket for information. My guess is that the bus will be waiting there for the new arrivals.
