Holiday Inn has a shuttle service, but I have seen reports on Trip Advisor that it really doesn't run in the wee hours ... so if you have a 7 AM flight (and thus may have to be at the check-in line by 5 am), you might still face the need to pay for a taxi, at night-time rates. If I were you, I'd e-mail the hotel asking Specifically if the shuttle would be operating when you need it. (It would take about 15 minutes to Airport building).

Cape Sounion is too far for dinner. Nearly 3 hours round trip.

We love ATTIKA GREEK HOUSE, which is on a street in back of The Acropolis Museum. It's a rooftop restaurant with wonderful views of The Acropolis lit up at night. Food is very good, typical Greek, large portions, and reasonably priced. But I'm not sure if they enclose the restaurant in the winter/spring months.

There are other restaurants we've gone to nearby, but I need to look in my files to remember names.

About the airport hotels: Splurge if you can for Sofitel. It's a very nice hotel, you'll sleep well, and you won't have to worry about transfers.

Two more restaurant suggestions: PLATANOS and DAPHNE'S.

PLATANOS is in a very interesting neighborhood behind The Acropolis, near the Museum of Music.

DAPHNE'S serves traditional and modern Greek food. It's very close to ATHEN'S GATE.

I've stayed at Sofitel a couple of times before an early morning flight, and it really is worth the extra price. No worries about a shuttle, because the hotel is right across the street from the terminal. Check out of your room, and you are less than five minutes walk to the airline check-in counters.

If you find prices for meals in the hotel too pricey you can walk across the street for a snack in one of the terminal cafes. You can also avoid hotel internet charges by using the free 60 min wifi access in the terminal.

Hi again,

ATTICUS GREEK HOUSE does have an enclosed patio during the winter months, so no problem dining there in March/April.
