National Holiday in Rome June 2nd what to do?
Was told that it is a national holiday in Rome on June 2nd. Will all of the major attractions be closed on that day? If so, any suggestions on what to do during the day. I'm traveling there with my 20 something daughter.

no, they won't. It's Italy's national day (Republic Day), that's all, just like every country has a date they come up with to celebrate their country's existence. If you don't have an independence day, it is usually some event marking some form of government coming about. So like all those national days, it is mainly a national/military pride thing and the usual military type parades (probably with the President in it somewhere), and perhaps various special concerts or other events.
There should be a big military parade in Rome. This was a description of events from 2010

This will be followed by a military parade along Via dei Fori Imperiali and an aerial display by the Italian air force’s “Frecce Tricolori” squadron, which leaves a trail of green, white and red smoke in the colours of the Italian flag. Drivers should expect road closures and traffic distruptions in and around the historic centre and buses will be diverted for the durantion of the events. In the afternoon the gardens of the Quirinale palace, the official residence of the president of the Republic, will be open to the public from around 15.00 and there will be performances by military bands. But all major attractions certainly aren't closed on holidays like that, I know they aren't in Rome.
