My apologies to Heimdall.
If you would like a copy of the map of the Lakka district where this little unique theatre is located, please email me and I'll happily send it to you. Bill |
No need to apologize, Bill. Look for my email.

Thanks everyone for your advice on my original request way up there at the top of this chain :-)
I've changed my expectations and revised my trip as follows: 14 days now -- 4 days Rhodes 4 days Santorini 3 days Mykonos 3 days Athens I've accounted for travel time .. I realize the first day for each location will be spent mostly travelling whether by air or ferry. This will give me 3 full days in Rhodes and Santorini and 2 in Mykonos and Athens. While I'm not big on the party scene, I still chose Mykonos because there *are* other things to do there and I really want to see Delos. Rhodes and Santorini look incredible and are no-brainers as far as I'm concerned. Is it still too ambitious? Should I knock one island out so I have more time to spend on the remaining two plus Athens? Thanks again for the advice. |
Briant, I think this plan will work for you, now that you've added a couple of days to the trip... you seem like the kind of person who likes to be on the move anyway, rather than vegging out.
It particularly will work best if you can get that new airline that goes from Rhodes to Santorini -- that booking is absolutely key, unless u want to spend big bucks to fly BACk to Athens and OUT to Santorini. FINALLY -- to help all of us help others, it would be nice if, after your trip, you could post a message telling us what worked and what was a hassle, about your itinerary. Best of luck, and have fun! |
Travelerjan,
Can you give me any additional information on the new airline service from Rhodes to Santorini? I was assuming I'd have to arrange a long ferry journey between these islands, but if I can fly, that would be MUCH better. Thanks! |
It's called Sky Express.
http://www.skyexpress.gr/ Be advised that the planes are small so baggage allowances are very strict. Read the fine print. |
If I do wind up taking a ferry from Rhodes to Santorini instead of arranging air transportation, can anyone give me a rough estimate of the time involved for that journey?
It looks like Santorini - Mykonos and Mykonos - Athens should be easy enough as the high speed ferry will be available by May, but I'm concerned about travel time from Rhodes to Santorini. Thanks! |
Briant13, your major concern about the Rhodes-Santorini ferry will be frequency of departure rather than length of the journey. Until ferry timetables appear in the spring, it is impossible to know what this year's departures will be. According to Greek Island Hopping 2007, however, there were only two departures per week (Thu and Sun at 4:30AM) on a ferry called Ierapetra L, with five stops before reaching Santorini. Whatever this year's situation will be, don't expect daily departures.

Okay! I've finalized my intinerary and I'm going to book this week. I am SO excited!!!
Here's the finale: May 11 -- Arriving in Athens in the morning then catching another flight 2 hours later (should be enough time between flights I hope) to fly into Rhodes Day 1 - 4 Rhodes Fly to Santorini (have to fly to Athens then to Santorini) Day 5 - 8 Santorini Ferry to Paros Day 9 - 11 Paros (decided against Mykonos as I'm not into the "party" scene) Ferry to Athens Day 12 - 14 Athens The flights are going to cost me extra, but I figure the time savings are worth it compared to the long ferry rides that would otherwise be involved. I can't wait! ( Did I already say that? ) |
