Greece-Paros or Meteora
I am traveling to Greece with my sister and her hubby. We will arrive in Athens on March 23, 2017 and will leave on April 4, 2017. We will be staying on Santorini from March 24-27. We are trying to decide if we then want to go spend 2 nights in Paros before flying back to Athens. OR go back to Athens and head to Meteora for a couple of days. We do also plan on spending a night on Hydra and exploring Athens for a few days at the end of the trip. Its the in between time we are debating. I don't think we will have time for Santorini, Paros, Meteora, Hydra and Athens. So which would be best to narrow down? Paros or Meteroa?
Any suggestions? Thanks. |
Also, I am a little concerned about the steps at Meteora. How physically demanding is it?

I would like for you to have a more real,Greek island experience which Paros will give you. If you give up Hydra and take a day away from Santorini you could fit it in.
We love Paros and Santorini was our least favorite experience in several trips to Greece. |
You have 3 islands listed, 2 is more than enough. Meteora is not like anything you will ever see again! Go to Meteora!

You are going to the islands when it is still technically winter, so even though I prefer Paros to Santorini, I would stick with just Santorini this time. Paros is great in the summer when you can go to beaches and sit at sidewalk cafes, but you can't do that in March. Santorini has many things of interest, including the caldera, Akrotiri, vineyards, etc.
I agree with joannyc that "Meteora is not like anything you will ever see again!" You will get a better "real Greece" experience by travelling through the mainland than on any Greek island. It might be a bit cold around Meteora at the end of March, so bring warm clothing. |
Skip Hydra

I suspect there will be more steps to your hotel in Santorini than there will be at most of the Monasteries in Mystras.
