To edit and paraphrase Susan's comment about about this long (second) thread:

"this has already been hashed out... you've already received MANY recommendations to choose one country or the other...(we)'ve given advice about your possibilities...."

Aside from convincing you not to do Florence, after all our recommends, you are pretty much sticking with the familiar newcomer route of Santorini & Mykonos. So I don't know what more we could add.

Go book your flights and enjoy!!

60 posts are enough.
Just book.

alpine-- girl, if you have dilly-dally with your honeymoon this much, I CAN NOT even imagine what your bridemaids must be going through.... girl, make a desicion, move on. Enough.

Weadles Nov 22nd, 2008 09:44 AM

alpine is a guy, I believe. But I agree w/the other posters. Time to book!!

alpinemccain Nov 22nd, 2008 10:47 AM

yes, I am a guy....and thanks for the patience..the Rome thing was a new twist that no one commented on....

Mykonos might get dumped for Paros or Naxos, but that does not change our flight plans for now....My fiance has a coworker who's from Greece and she recommended Mykonos before Naxos/Paros, so we are not just following the "newcomer route" but local advice...

I guess I can book the flights and decide later whether I go to Rome or not...either way, I will fly into Athens and out of Venice....

alpinemccain Nov 22nd, 2008 02:04 PM

so the flight is booked! Non-refundable....for now, I know I will be in Athens at 9h23 am on September 22 (assuming no delays of course) and will leave out of Venice on October 6 at 11h35.

I fly on US Airways.

I now need to book my flight from Athens to Santorini on September 22. I will arrive at 9h23 am

There is a flight on Aegean Airlines leaving at 10h50 am and one leaving at 13h30 pm...of course the 10h50 am one would be ideal....does Aegean fly out of the same airport I arrive (i.e. ATH)?

alpinemccain Nov 24th, 2008 08:00 AM

We used Prriceline many times in Canada/US and were always pleased.

I just noticed it's available for Rome/Venice/Athens.

I think we will still use hilton points for Venice/Athens, however I was considering Prriceline for Rome.

I noticed the Intercontinental often goes for $200-$250 US which seems like a lot less then posted website rate...there is the risk of course that we prepay and this will take flexibility out of our itinerary...

travelerjan Nov 24th, 2008 11:36 AM

hope you are noticiing alpine that you are talking to yourself now ... I think you have exhausted most of us, as somebody said, 60 posts, we gave already.

About taking flexibilkity out of your schedule, for you it might be a good thing, because you have a problem with changing your mind so many times... it might be relaxing to have something that you could NOT change.

Speaking of mind-changing, are you involving yourself in the details of the wedding. There's something you can divert yourself with! What color should the napkins be? The flowers?

Just kidding! relax, you will have a good time and a happy life and many childen! Enjoy!

Weadles Nov 24th, 2008 11:47 AM

alpine,

AEGEAN flies out of the same airport in Athens. I would advise leaving time between arrival in Athens and connection to Santorini in case you are delayed coming in.

alpinemccain Nov 24th, 2008 05:16 PM

Thanks! If instead of complaining, people would answer my questions, i wouldn't have to ask them over and over.... ;)

Viajero2 Nov 25th, 2008 02:50 AM

....'cause, obviously, you know how to take a clue...:-#

Weadles Nov 25th, 2008 07:54 AM

Aw c'mon, you guys. How about some civility? Of course alpine's gotten good (and probably enough at this point) advice. But are we all so jaded or OLD that we've forgotten the anticipation/excitement of those first trips to Europe? Give the guy a break!

alpinemccain Nov 25th, 2008 09:35 AM

Viajero2

You provided 3 post, but added absolutely no value...so why even bother was everyone's time...

Everyone else has been very helpful, thanks again!

travelerjan Nov 25th, 2008 09:52 AM

I did not "answer your question" following your posting about Priceline and Intercontinental .. because you did not ask a question. If you will re-read your message, it appears you were thinking out loud .. to me it was not clear what you wanted us to respond.

alpinemccain Nov 25th, 2008 12:54 PM

Good point, I will be more direct in my future postings...

I thought it was obvious I was looking for someone to comment on whether paying $200-$250 for the Intercontinental on priceline was a good idea or not....

It took me 70 posts to decide on the itinerary...I figure another 70 and I will be decided on hotels??

Hey my trip is in 10 months...I need something to keep me entertained :)

My hotels so far:

Santorini - 3 nights - ?
Mykonos - 2 nights - I was thinking Mykonos Grand
Athens - 3 nights - Hilton Athens
Rome - 3 nights - I was thinking using priceline to get Intercontinental
Venice - 3 nights - Hilton

Once we get this covered, stay tuned as in about 40 posts, I'll be asking about "must do restaurants" in each city and then I'll do "activities"....hmmm what else, what else..

Gaspard Nov 25th, 2008 09:43 PM

alpinemccain is a troll.

Viajero2 Nov 26th, 2008 02:49 AM

....somewhere there is a bride pulling her hair out with a "busy" groom.

Seriously dude, you need to get a grip, the honeymoon is NOT the difficult part. You even said you are not museum people; you like to eat and lay down a beach. How you made that into such a complicated desicion is bizarre...

Make a desicion; leave it alone already.

alpinemccain Nov 26th, 2008 04:18 AM

I know it's not the difficult part, but it's the only thing I'm responsible for...so might as well get it right...hehe...

I don't understand why a few of you are getting upset....so what if I ramble and keep asking questions....if you don't want to answer, don't open the post!

I'm in front of my computer at work 10 hours a day which is why I'm so often on this thing...and it's really valuable to get different people's advice....

Maybe I should go on the Mexico forum for a while and bug people on my Mayan Riviera trip in January....

:)

And I did make a decision, my flight is booked and I'm doing Athens/Santorini/Mykonos/Rome/Venice

5 great places in 14 nights :)

and as many of you said, 3 nights in places like Venice/Rome are very "tight" which is why I want to be very well informed...

by the way we have been on a few cruises so we are used to "cramming it all in" so 3 nights in a city is a lot for me! :)

If you think I ramble now...wait till I get back and post my 20 page trip report!!
