Greece Island Travel-Airplane or Hydrofoil?

What is the preferred method to travel from Athens to Mykanos, Mykanos to Santorini and Santorini to Athens? I'm comparing air travel vs. Hydrofoil and not sure which to do. Please let me know your thoughts and prefered company.
Thanks!
Hi,

I would fly between Santorini and Athens. It is a long way and hydrofoils are noises and not that nice inside. They are faster than the ferry, but not as plesant. Also hydrofoils do not go if the seas are a little bit wavy. The other item is I am not sure you can fly between Myconos and Santorini. You might be able to, but sometimes you have to fly to Athens and then on to the next island. Do a combination. Have fun.

I prefer the ferry on the way to the islands and flying home from Santorini. Nothing beats standing on the deck arriving in Santorini early in the morning. The hydrofoils are certainly faster but you can't go outside and are more prone to delays or cancellations if the weather is bad. Within the islands I've only flown Aegean-Cronos, it was fine.

I agree with the person who said to take the boat into Santorini if you can. We did this from Crete and it was beautiful scenery. But if you plan to go from Athens to Santorini, take a plane since it is a long way. The worst part of this is that they put you in "bins" waiting for your flight and everyone is smoking like chimneys. There is flights from Santorini to Mykonos and that is what I reccommend since the hydrofoil stops in Ios, Naxos, and Paros first.

Since you apparently plan to do those three legs of the trip making a circle, I'd contact Olympic Airlines and get a price for doing the three legs as one trip. I think in the long run it will make the most sense. We did the hydrofoil from Crete to Santorini, and another from Santorini to Mykonos before flying into Athens -- but frankly, I don't think much of the hydrofoils. There is no view, it is not terribly comfortable, and it makes just as much sense to fly.
