Greece Island Hopping- How many days needed?
Hi, I will be going to Greece in September for 16 days. I will be covering Athens, Mykonos, Paros Island, Santorini and Crete. Can anyone tell me how many days I should stay in each island? And which places I should hang around longer? I think the weather is still warm in September, but do you think it is warm enough to head to the beach?
THank you in advance. |
Don't spend less than 3 or 4 days on any island or you won't receive the full benefit of your experience.

Hi there.. to see most of them you need
2-4 days for Athens 3-4 days for Mykonos 2-3 days for Paros 3-4 days for Santorini at least 4 for Crete When you go Greek Island Hopping you should have at least 7-10 days so you are good with that, though you might have to leave one island out or take a day trip to it. Paros is small it can be done in 2 days (basic POI). Athens basics can be done in 2 days as well. If you stay more in Athens make sure you get to the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio as well :) Crete is a big island, you might want to spend more days... Even 2 weeks are not enough to see half of Crete. Most travelers spend at least 2-3 days on each place when they go island hopping. It depends on what you want/need to see on each place... Book you accommodation as early as you can if you are going there high season. Also check the availability of ferry tickets. I always book 1-2 months ahead when I'm visiting the islands in July/August. Also search a bit for any offers by the shipping companies. Don't just book the first ferry site you see. Some offer a Greek island pass, others have special discounts... Be thorough before making a decision. |
Annie, this thread is 11 years old! The September the OP travelled was in 2007.

That's okay Annie. I read your advice.
I wish I had more time to island hop. |
