Greece in November

Hi all,

We are planning a trip to Greece this November (we had planned a summer trip, but got cancelled due to a family emergency) - and are wondering if mid November would be a good time to visit Greece. Any thoughts ?

We're planning on spending time in Athens and Santorini - would November be a good time ? Does it get too cold in these regions ? What about tourist attractions - hopefully most of the "must-see" sites will still be open during this period ?

Any thoughts or opinions greatly appreciated ! Thanks in advance.

Before you book, I'd check out the weather on worldweather.com. I think end of October- November is the beginning of the rainy season in Greece.

There will be plenty of activities for you in Athens.

Santorini will be extremely quiet in November. Weather is impossible to predict but you can assume it will be cold and windy with clouds mixed with some sun. The water will be too cold for swimming. The beaches will be all but deserted. The archaeological site of Akrotiri will be closed. The main village of Fira will offer the most in the way of open hotels and restaurants. Most of the souvenier shops will be closed.

You'll have better luck on Crete during November. The island is large with many different choices of areas to explore. The southern shore will be the warmest.

Thanks for the info - brotherleelove ! So Santorini is definitely out. I have about 6-7 days to spend in Greece, am planning to spend 3-4 days in Athens - any suggestions for the remaining ?

Perhaps a trip down to the Peloponnese with a stop at the theater at Epidaurus, a day trip out to Hydra and/or Spetses or maybe a visit to Nauplion.
