Greece in May
thinking of a week in Greece in early May - wondering is anyone knows where it might be warm enough for beaches? like to do a trip of some sightseeing (Anthens?) and some relaxing in a warm place
It can be nice and warm in early May, although it's never possible to make an accurate prediction. Sometimes the winds are blowing, sometimes not. The further south you go the warmer it will be, generally.
I've been to the Ionians many times in May and have always been able to spend plenty of time on the beach, although the sea can be a little chilly at that time.
I guess it depends on what you're used to. Being from Florida, I found the beaches in Greece to be pretty cold when I was there two years ago in May. The outside temp was in the 60's or 70's, but the water was too cold to even put my feet in.

Yep, it depends on what you're use to. I love cold water on hot days (maybe I run hot..) and found May in Greece to be ideal for a host of reasons. First, it's before the tourist onslaught, second, springtime is best for hiking, and third, the weather runs between pleasantly warm and hot. Great time to go. As earlier advised, head south. Rhodes and Crete are great choices, as are others in the area.
