Greece in February

We (couple) are planning a week's vacation in February . Have been wanting to go to Greece since a long time . Is it advisable to travel in February ? keeping in mind the weather.
Incase Feb is ok , then which all places to visit ?
Thanks a lot for suggestions / advice.

What your interests are? You could spent your week in Athens I guess or split between Athens and Nafplion area...

The Greek Islands are chiefly geared to the summer tourist trade and usually operate between Easter and mid October, with many hotels and restaurants closed. In the main, places like Athens are the best destinations in the winter although you will still find some restaurants and smaller hotels are closed too.

Athens is the capital of Greece and a 6 million citizents metropolitan area. Restaurants and hotels are all open all year around and do not close on winter.

You are more likely to find Athens restaurants closed in August.

Well which is it? I was in Athens in January 2013 and did find that some restaurants and smaller hotels were closed. I was told that they were on holiday, some in Spain, some in the UK.

Rubicund, many Athens restaurants are closed in August, a time when Greeks take their holidays on the islands. Some Athens restaurants even have branches on trendy islands like Mykonos. Anyway, like mariha2912 wrote, Athens isn't a summer resort, it's a capital city. I suspect the restaurants and small hotels that you saw closed were victims of the economic downturn.

I'm well aware that Athens is a capital city Heimdall, but the places that were out of business were fairly obviously permanently shut. The places I referred to were on holiday, I was reliably informed. I was there with a local person who knew Athens very well.

I never heard any buisiness, smnaller or larger closing on winter for holidays and I am a local person too. I can not vote for every hotel or restaurant in Athens of course...
I do not think this is the point of this thread though. It would be nice to hear back from the OP.
