Greece Ferries - How to check if a Ferry is Cancelled

Hi,

I notice from reading online that ferries get cancelled often and the ferries don't always email or text the traveler. Is there a website online that says if the ferry is still scheduled to depart or is cancelled so that I can be proactive in finding out ahead of time and make other arrangements?

Currently I booked directly online with Seajet for travel from Heraklion to Santorini and picking up tickets at the port. (not sure where to go exactly to pick up tickets?)

Any advice would help.

thanks!

I notice from reading online that ferries get cancelled often...

I don't know where you read that, but it's completely untrue. Ferries are cancelled only due to weather, mechanical breakdown, or industrial action. These are rare events, and impossible to predict more than a day or two in advance.

Most ticket agents are located at the ports, right at the docks, and have signs with the names of the ferry companies. Not all are agents for Sea Jets, but your booking reference should show which one. :-)

We had a ferry change it's departure time by 5 hours and just by luck, we were walking along the seafront and spotted a sign with the details. It meant we didn't have to get up around 5am so we were glad we had noticed. It turned out that the owner of our hotel already knew and was going to tell us.

You can always check the day before at any of the travel agencies near the port. When we were in Greece last year, it said on each of our email ticket confirmations the name of the travel agent where we should collect our tickets. If you don't know, just ask in the first one you see, they are usually helpful.
